Binondo Food Trip!

As we mentioned in our Chinese New Year post, Binondo is a haven of authentic Chinese dishes for different budget sizes. It is impossible for you not to feel hungry during the festivities, and people in Binondo know that very well.

Here are the restaurants and foods that we have tried:

1. Tasty Dumplings
641 Norberto Ty Street, Binondo, Manila

Must try: Pork Chop Rice (Php 125)

Why: The pork chop is unlike any of those you are eating every day. It is pounded into a thin sheet of flavorful pork that will let you come back for more.

2. Lan Zhou La Mien
818 Benavidez Street, Binondo, Manila

Must try: Beef La Mien (Php 140) and Steamed Dumplings (Php 90 – half-order/7pcs; Php 180 – whole order/15pcs)

Why: Aside from the hefty serving of each bowl of la mien, the soup is very flavorful and the noodles taste fresh. The dumplings are flavorful as well, and packed with vegetable and pork filling. By the way, they give customers complimentary hot jasmine tea. What’s more is that it is unlimited.

3. Shanghai Fried Siopao
Ongpin Street, Binondo Manila

Must try: Fried Siopao (Php 18 per piece)

That’s actually how long the line is to the store entrance of Shanghai Fried Siopao.

Why: The softness of the pao and the juicyness and rich flavor of the filling are a couple of reasons why people come back and fall in a long queue just to get hold of famous snack.

4. Dong Bei Dumplings
642 Yuchengco Street, Binondo, Manila

Must try: Dumplings (Php 120 per 10-14pcs, depending on the type of dumpling)
Why: The price and quality of their dumplings are top-notch, and made fresh.

5. Eng Bee Tin
628 Ongpin St., Binondo, Manila

Must try: Various flavors of Hopia (Php 38-50) and Tikoy (Php 115-388)
Why: Simply because they are the best makers of hopia and tikoy. Absolutely delicious!

6. Masuki
931 Benavidez St, Binondo, Manila

Must try: Beef Mami (Php 180/195), Asado Siopao (Php 55/85), Bola-Bola Siopao (Php 58), Pork Siomai (Php 35 per piece)
Why: Aside from being an institution in Binondo, their bestsellers are really the best and everything has a distinctly rich taste. In addition, the servings are huge.

Bonus:
If you happen to pass by Shopper’s Mart in Ongpin, please try this herbal tea in a can, priced at Php 34.
